A LITTLE ABOUT ME

A lifetime fascination and passion started with Saturday morning chocolate chip cookies.

For the first sixteen years of life my mother was a blur of suits, briefcases, and hairspray. I cherished the Saturday mornings reserved for Mother/Daughter time. Those mornings were filled with love, dancing, and stealing bites of raw cookie dough. Saturdays were lessons in spending time well, setting goals, and following instructions, all things my mother thrives on.


From a young age, I’ve had a sense of motivation and passion driving me forward. Whether it’s exploring unique opportunities, learning additional skills, or meeting new people, I bring these values to every experience throughout my life on a personal and professional level.

I am an explorer.

I travel through a different land with each book, movie, or play I have the pleasure of experiencing. Each expedition into a new land serves as a separate reminder of the world's beauty.


I am a scholar.

I crave knowledge. I believe margins are to be written in, scrawled across, and scribbled in until the white space is a faint memory. I believe in rereading, replay, and reminiscing. And if you have yet to tell: believe in the power of threes.


I am a comfort queen.

I am in love with all things warm and fuzzy. The nook of a couch is my favorite place to be. The pitter-patter of rain, the slow fizz of a soda, and beep of an oven are the most comforting sounds in the world.

August 2019 - Current

PROSPECT RESEARCH, HUMANE SOCIETY OF THE UNITED STATES

January 2017 - July 2019

COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR, MARKEL

  • Collaborate with marketing, human resources, and other internal teams to identify and report on company news, initiatives, and story ideas to share internally and on social media. 

  • Monitor industry and trade media outlets for articles, opportunities, and trends.

  • Manage company intranet and oversee, train, and develop 30+ communication partners to create and review intranet content.

  • Support major intranet upgrades and roll outs. Work with IT and team members to resolve and smoothly address technical issues with minimal interruption to intranet users.

  • Track the performance and success metrics of company intranet and social media outreach and develop strategies for continued improvement.  

  • Helped design and implement Markel’s corporate LinkedIn strategy and increased followers by 20% and traffic by 160% in 10 months.

  • Plan events, including coordinating annual global Employee Appreciation Day with more than 70 offices around the world.

June 2016 - December 2016

INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS INTERN, MARKEL

  • Created and managed editorial plans and internal communication strategies.

  • Researched best internal communications strategies and intranet best practices.

  • Prepared talking points and built presentations for the Director, Vice President of Human Resources, and other senior leadership.

RECRUITER, ALAN NEWMAN RESEARCH

  • Recruited for market research and maintained client relationships.

January 2015 - August 2015

OUTREACH COORDINATOR, VCU STUDENT MEDIA CENTER

  • Developed new position to provide a single point of outreach for all student media publications.

  • Executed promotional events and giveaways for students.

  • Wrote press releases, ran social media campaign, and served as main point of contact for outreach needs.

January 2015 - May 2015

EVENT COORDINATOR, VCU CREATEATHON

  • Planned a meet and greet for team leaders and team members with 75 attendees.

  • Kept the 24-hour event on schedule —volunteer coordination, check-in, meals, and entertainment. Held the final reception with teams and clients.

October 2014 - December 2014

PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERN, RICHMOND BALLET

  • Led eight promotional events and provided on-site assistance at all events for the 173 student cast and communicated with 15 local area businesses about promotional events and served as main point of contact.

  • Published stories about Clara character to and local weekly papers.

  • Performed media relations, Dance and Art News research, and assisted with press files and archiving.

July 2014 - August 2014

MARKETING INTERN, BON SECOURS WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM TRAINING CAMP

  • Interacted with camp attendees to activate daily VIP opportunities, play activities, and select social platforms.

  • Assisted planning and executing fan platform events in coordination with Redskins Marketing Manager.
